18 months ago, we at Olympic View Community Church of the Brethren officially launched a fund campaign to improve handicap accessibility in the church building.  During that time thanks to numerous volunteers and monies donated by the congregation, we have built an accessible bathroom, a ramp, striped our parking lot for handicapped parking, gotten a permanent disabled parking spot on 5th Ave and acquired disabled plates for our van. We will be purchasing additional hearing devices for the sanctuary in the near future.

The largest expense will be for an elevator in the inner courtyard at the north end of the building with three stops: lower 95th street entry, social hall and upper lobby to the sanctuary.

Although the congregation is stretched to meet normal expenses, some members lead the struggle to make changes out of compassion for the needs of others. With an initial grant from memorial gifts, the board now seeks contributions for the elevator.
