ABOUT OUR CONGREGATION

Olympic View is a friendly, neighborhood church with people from a wide diversity of church backgrounds and cultures, delightful children and great senior citizens joining in celebrative. The church embraces the new while valuing the past. We are a welcome home for many community groups and events.

Members of the Church of the Brethren first established a Seattle
congregation in 1903. Shortly after, a church was built in the Greenwood area. In 1948 when the church moved to its current location it became Olympic View Community Church of the Brethren.

In 1971 the congregation was instrumental in sponsoring Northaven Retirement Apartments, a nonprofit, low-income retirement apartment complex. In 1992 Northaven II was developed as an assisted living facility, to provide a continuum of housing options at Northaven.

Our congregation has about 170 members, and an average worship attendance of about 90. We have a broad spectrum of ages and generations, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Currently, the congregation is renovating the church facility to make it more accessible to persons with disabilities. Future renovations include adding an elevator and enlarging and enhancing the handicapped parking.

We welcome everyone to the joys and responsibilities of discipleship, and earnestly want to include all, regardless of gender, race, national origin, mental or physical challenge, sexual orientation, or any other diversity we may have.
